How to set the default ArcReader tool

When you start ArcReader, the pointer will default to one of the available tools. In data view, it will be either Map Zoom In, Map Pan, or Map Identify. In layout view, it will be either Map Zoom In, Map Pan, Map Identify, Page Zoom In, or Page Pan. You can set the default tool you want ArcReader to start with by following the steps below.

  1. Click the Tools menu and click Options.
  2. Click the General tab.
  3. Choose the Default Data or Layout View tool.
  4. Click OK.

The chosen tool will be the default tool when you start ArcReader or switch views for the first time.
