Working with 3D graphics layers

Available with 3D Analyst license.

Documents can contain layers that are made up of graphics. Graphics in a document can be stored in one layer, such as the default graphics layer, or in multiple layers. If you begin to create graphics without designating a new graphics layer as a target, the graphics will be stored in the default graphics layer. Optionally, you can set 3D graphics to be stored in a graphics layer that you can create, name, and save as a layer file.

The default graphics layer does not appear in the table of contents and therefore cannot have its visibility toggled. If you want to use graphics like feature layers, you should always create one or more graphics layers.

Capabilities for 3D graphics are exposed on the Globe 3D Graphics toolbar in ArcGlobe and the 3D Graphics toolbar in ArcScene. For simplicity, the term "3D Graphics toolbar" is used to represent both toolbars.
