Migrating an existing Reviewer workspace to the current version

Available with Data Reviewer license.

  • Personal, file, and non-versioned enterprise geodatabases
  • Versioned enterprise geodatabases

You may have Reviewer results you created in previous versions of Data Reviewer that you want to use with a later release of the software. Depending on the original version you used to create the Reviewer workspace, you may need to upgrade it to the latest version.

Note:

Upgrading a Reviewer workspace created in an enterprise geodatabase will require credentials with administrative privileges.

Personal, file, and non-versioned enterprise geodatabases

Perform the following steps to upgrade a Reviewer workspace created in a personal, file, or non-versioned enterprise geodatabase.

  1. If you do not already have a backup of your data, make a backup copy of the geodatabase before proceeding.
  2. Start ArcMap.
  3. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > Data Reviewer.
  4. Click the Reviewer Session Manager button Reviewer Session Manager on the Data Reviewer toolbar.

    The Reviewer Session Manager dialog box appears.

  5. Click Browse in the Reviewer Workspace area.

    The Reviewer Workspace dialog box appears.

  6. Browse to the database that contains the existing Reviewer dataset.
  7. Click Add.
  8. When the Data Reviewer message appears, click Yes to open the Enable Data Reviewer geoprocessing tool.

    The Enable Data Reviewer dialog box appears with the Workspace field automatically populated.

    Caution:

    Do not change the coordinate system or configuration keyword if it is not necessary.

  9. Click OK to upgrade the workspace to the current software version.

    Upon completion, a confirmation message appears indicating that the workspace has been successfully upgraded.

  10. Click Close to close the Enable Data Reviewer dialog box.

    Note:

    For enterprise geodatabases, verify database privileges to ensure that users have the correct access rights to the upgraded tables.

Versioned enterprise geodatabases

Perform the following steps to upgrade a versioned Reviewer workspace created in an enterprise geodatabase.

  1. If you do not already have a backup of your data, make a backup copy of the geodatabase before proceeding.
  2. Start ArcCatalog.
  3. In the Catalog tree pane, create a connection file with administrative privileges to your Reviewer enterprise workspace.

  4. Use the Reconcile Versions geoprocessing tool with the Post Versions After Reconcile check box checked to reconcile all version to your default version.
  5. In the Catalog tree pane, right-click the connection file you created above and click Administration > Administer Geodatabase.

    The Geodatabase Administration dialog box appears.

  6. In the Geodatabase Administration dialog box, click the Connections tab and verify that there are no unnecessary connections to the database.

    Tip:

    Before compressing your geodatabase, ensure that there are no user connections to the database as this will impede a full compression.

  7. Click the Locks tab and verify that there are no unnecessary locks on the database.

  8. When you are done verifying the database connections and locks, close the Geodatabase Administration dialog box.
  9. In the Catalog tree pane, right-click the connection file you created above and click Administration > Compress Database.

  10. Start ArcMap.
  11. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > Data Reviewer.
  12. Click the Reviewer Session Manager button Reviewer Session Manager on the Data Reviewer toolbar.

    The Reviewer Session Manager dialog box appears.

  13. Click Browse in the Reviewer Workspace area.

    The Reviewer Workspace dialog box appears.

  14. Browse to the database connection that contains the existing Reviewer dataset.
  15. Click Add.
  16. When the Data Reviewer message appears, click Yes to open the Enable Data Reviewer geoprocessing tool.

    The Enable Data Reviewer dialog box appears with the Workspace automatically populated.

    Caution:

  17. Click OK to upgrade the workspace to the current software version.

  18. Click Close to close the Enable Data Reviewer dialog box.
