Modeling semivariogram and covariance functions: Changing the partial sill and nugget

Available with Geostatistical Analyst license.

Semivariogram and covariance functions are defined by the type of function you use and by the nugget, partial sill, and range parameters. It is important to adjust these values until you obtain as good a fit as possible to the empirical data.

  1. Set the Calculate Partial Sill parameter to False.
  2. Enter a Partial Sill value on the Semivariogram/Covariance Modeling dialog box.

If you set the Calculate Partial Sill parameter to True, a value is calculated using a weighted least-squares algorithm.

  3. Set the Calculate Nugget parameter to False.
  4. Enter a Nugget value.

If you set the Calculate Nugget parameter to True, a value is calculated using a weighted least-squares algorithm.
