Creating the administrator database connection
You need to create an administrator database connection when the Production Mapping workspace is stored in an enterprise geodatabase. Create a database connection in ArcCatalog with the PM user as your Production Mapping workspace location.
For more information, see Database connections in ArcMap.
You'll use the PM user database connection created previously to set the Production Mapping workspace location and load the schema and data so the Production Mapping workspace can be used in your editing and cartographic workflows.
A schema can be imported into a geodatabase in several different ways. It depends on whether there is already an existing schema that you want to import or if one needs to be created. The following table lists scenarios for importing schemas and resources for finding more information on completing the process:
Scenario | Where to find more information |
---|---|
You have an existing XML workspace document with the schema and, optionally, data. | |
You are mapping between two different data sources or schemas. | |
You are creating a new schema. | A_note_about_the_use_of_UML_for_geodatabase_design |
