Activating a data frame from the Layout window

Available with Production Mapping license.

You can have multiple data frames in a page layout. ArcMap lists each data frame in its table of contents. Only one data frame can be active at a time.

Data frames are listed as elements in the Layout window. You can use the Layout window to active data frames.

  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. Load data in the map if necessary.
  3. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > Production Cartography.
  4. If necessary, click the Layout window button Layout window on the Production Cartography toolbar to display the Layout window.
  5. In the Layout window, click a data frame element.
  6. In the Layout window, right-click the data frame element and click Activate Data Frame.

    Note:

If Activate Data Frame is not enabled, you have not clicked a data frame element.
