Loading Production PDF export settings

Available with Production Mapping license.

You can save Production PDF export settings to an .xml file. This allows you to reuse and share export settings. Saved settings include all color mapping rules defined in the Color Mapping Rules dialog box and all other PDF settings.

Note:

The list of pages that are exported and the security settings on the Pages and Security tabs are not saved as part of this file. These settings are unique to each export process and, if used, must be set each time.

Loading a Production PDF .xml file initializes all Production PDF dialog boxes with the settings referenced in the file.

  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. Load data in the map if necessary.
  3. On the main menu, click File > Load Production PDF Settings.

    The Open dialog box appears.

  4. Browse to a Production PDF .xml file.
  5. Click Open.

The .xml file is loaded into the Production PDF environment and the Export Map dialog box appears.

    Note:

The Export Map dialog box appears automatically with the Production PDF type selected. After closing the dialog box by clicking either Save or Cancel, the previous exporter type is restored.

  6. To view the settings loaded from the .xml file, perform the following steps:
    1. Click Map Colors.

The Color Mapping Rules dialog box appears. The color mapping rules loaded from the .xml display as rows in a table on the dialog box.

    2. Click Cancel to close the Color Mapping Rules dialog box.

The Export Map dialog box appears.

  7. Click Save to export to Production PDF.
