Renaming an element in the element library

Available with Production Mapping license.

Once a layout element is in the database, the Database Element dialog box provides the ability to rename the element using the tree view. The Database Elements dialog box provides a user interface for an element library.

Tip:

Products and categories can also be renamed.

  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. Verify that the map document is in layout view.
  3. On the main menu, click Insert > Database Element.

    The Database Element dialog box appears.

  4. Navigate to the element you want to rename.
  5. Right-click the element and click Rename.

    The element name becomes editable.

  6. Type a new name for the element and press ENTER.
  7. Click Close.
