Saving a VBScript expression for later use

Available with Production Mapping license.

The VBScript expressions you create can be saved and recalled for use with other calculated representation or calculated field rules.

  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. Load data in the map if necessary.
  3. Right-click the layer in the table of contents for which you want to create calculated representations or calculated fields and click Properties.

    The Layer Properties dialog box appears.

  4. Click the Calculated Representations or Calculated Fields tab.
  5. Click the Expression drop-down arrow and choose Edit Expression.

    The Expression Parser dialog box appears.

  6. Define the VBScript expression for your calculated representation or field.
  7. Click Save.

    The Save As dialog box appears.

  8. Navigate to the directory where you want to save the script.
  9. Type a file name in the File name text box.
  10. Click Save.

    The Expression Parser dialog box appears.

  11. Click OK.
