Toggling draft mode in the Layout window

Available with Production Mapping license.

You can set and unset an element into draft mode. Draft mode turns off an element. The element remains in position in the page layout but does not render. The element will display its name within an empty rectangle. Use draft mode to control element rendering on the page layout.

  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. If necessary, click the Layout window button Layout window on the Production Cartography toolbar to display the Layout window.
  3. Select one or more elements in the Layout window.
  4. Right click in the Layout window, then click Draft Mode.

The elements will render as empty rectangles in the page layout. The element's icon changes in the Layout window.

    Note:

To unset draft mode, right-click an element in the Layout window and choose Draft mode.
