Ways of populating z-values during an edit session

Available with Production Mapping license.

When you are editing a selected set of features, you have several options for populating the z-value. The Populate Z For Selected Feature(s) tool provides you with several different options:

  • Populate Zs from surface-Z—Values from a functional surface file are used to populate the selected features' z-values.
    Note:

The ArcGIS 3D Analyst extension extension must be installed to use this option.

  • Populate Zs from attribute—Z-values are populated using an attribute field such as ZV2.
  • Populate Zs from value entered—The value that is typed into the Populate Zs from value entered text box is used as the z-value for the selected set of features.
  • Adjust Zs by value (BIAS)—Z-values are modified based on the number typed into the Adjust Zs by value text box.
