Data Path:
C:\ArcGIS\ArcTutor\Schematics\Schematics_In_ArcMap
Goal:
Getting acquainted with Schematics tools and commands available on the Schematics toolbars in ArcMap. Learning about generating and updating diagrams. Learning about how to lay out schematic diagrams using the Schematics refinement tools and layout algorithms.

ArcGIS Schematics extension is used by ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Server. It allows the user to get simplified representations of networks, intended to explain their structure and make the way they operate understandable. It can be used to manage physical and logical networks, including social and economic networks, and may view and represent any kind of network such as electric power, traffic light, delivery route, computer, and so forth. It enables users to automatically generate, visualize, and manipulate diagrams from network data or data that has attributes for connectivity.
