Copying and pasting an address locator in ArcCatalog

Legacy:

Locators should be stored in a file folder so you take advantage of new features that are not supported for locators stored in geodatabases, such as performance improvements, multithreading capabilities, and suggestions support. ArcGIS 10.4 is the last release to support storing locators in geodatabases.

  1. In ArcCatalog or the Catalog window in ArcMap, browse to the folder that contains the address locator you want to copy.
  2. If you want to copy an address locator and its reference data and tables from one workspace to another, enabling the relative path of the address locator to its reference data will mitigate errors when rebuilding the address locator.
  3. To set the relative path of the address locator to its reference data, do the following:
    1. Right-click the address locator and click Properties.

The Address Locator Properties dialog box opens.

    2. Click the check box next to Store relative path names in the Address Locator Properties dialog box.
    3. Click OK to close the dialog box.
  4. Right-click the address locator and choose Copy.
  5. Right-click the folder into which you want to paste the address locator and choose Paste.
Tip:

You can drag and drop an address locator to move it from one folder to another in ArcCatalog.

If the destination folder is on the same disk, click the address locator you want to move, and drag and drop the address locator into the destination folder.

If the destination folder is on a different disk or network, press the Shift key, and drag and drop the address locator into the destination folder.
