Reference data tables properties

This topic describes the properties listed in the Reference data tables section of the Address Locator Properties dialog box.

Primary table

The path name of the primary table that was used for building the locator.

Note:

Other tables, such as alternate name tables and alternate city name tables, may be listed if the locator uses more than one table.

Store relative path names

Storing relative path names in an address locator is useful if you want to copy the entire workspace, including the reference feature class, tables, and address locators, to another workspace. Setting the correct path name to the reference data is essential when you want to rebuild the address locator.

The following steps demonstrate how to set relative or absolute paths:

  1. On the Address Locator Properties dialog box, expand the Reference data tables section.
  2. In the drop-down menu next to the Store relative path names option, choose true to store relative path names of the reference tables in the locator or false to store absolute path names.
  3. Click OK to save the setting.

Field Map

The fields in each relevant reference table that were used in building the locator. You can review what fields in the reference tables were mapped to the fields specified by the locator style. Since geocoding compares components in the input addresses with values in the reference data, addresses may not be matched if some fields were not mapped correctly or not mapped at all. Creating a new address locator with the correct field mapping can resolve the problem.
