Viewing dataset or version locks

You can view what locks are currently held on the datasets or versions you own by opening the Locks tab of the Geodatabase Administration dialog box.

You might want to do this if, for example, you attempt to edit your dataset in a nonversioned edit session and find you cannot because another user already has an exclusive lock on your data.

Follow these steps to view locks on your data or versions:

  1. Open the database connection in the Catalog window in ArcMap.
  2. To open the Geodatabase Administration dialog box, right-click a table, feature class, raster dataset, or mosaic dataset, point to Manage, then click Locks.

The Geodatabase Administration dialog box opens with the Locks tab active and filtered for the dataset from which you opened the dialog box.

  3. If you want to see locks on a version, you can choose version from the Lock Type filter drop-down list.

All locks on geodatabase versions you own are listed.
