- Click the tool palette drop-down arrow on the Utility Network Analyst toolbar and click a flag tool button ( or ).
- Click Analysis and click Options.
- Click the Results tab.
- Click Selection to return the results of the analysis as selections.
- Uncheck Junctions.
This returns only edges in the results.
- Click OK.
- Click on the map to place a flag at the destination point.
- Click the Trace Task drop-down arrow and click Trace Upstream.
- Click the Solve button .
- Click Analysis and click Clear Flags.
- On the main menu, click Selection > Interactive Selection Method > Add to Current Selection.
- Click on the map to place a flag at the origin point.
- Click the Trace Task drop-down arrow and click Trace Downstream.
- Click the Solve button .
- Click Analysis and click Options.
- Click the General tab and click Unselected features to treat the current selections as barriers.
- Click OK.
- On the main menu, click Selection > Interactive Selection Method > Create New Selection.
- Click on the map to place a flag at the destination point.
- Click the Trace Task drop-down arrow and click Find Path.
- Click the Solve button .
The result will be an upstream path from the origin point to the destination point if one exists.
