You can download the source files in an image service or mosaic dataset. This is considered a pick-and-ship capability.
The downloading capability is controlled by the administrator of the image service; therefore, not all image services allow you to download the source files.
You can choose the desired source files using the attribute table or one of the selection tools. These include raster datasets, LAS files, or LAS datasets. Once selected, any additional associated files will be included, such as metadata files or projection files.
If you do not want to download the source files, you can save the image that is displayed, or a part of it, by using the Export Data option.
- Make a selection. This can be done using several methods, such as the following:
- Opening the attribute table and selecting one or more rows
- Using Select by Attribute or Select by Location from the Selection menu
- Using the Select Features tool on the Tools toolbar
- To remove any overviews from the selection set, right-click the image service layer (or mosaic dataset's Footprint layer) in the table of contents and click Selection > Reselect Only Primary Rasters.
- Right-click the image service layer (or mosaic dataset's Footprint layer) in the table of contents and click Data > Download Selected Rasters.
This opens the Download Selected Rasters dialog box.
- Type a path or click the browse button to specify a location on disk where the data will be downloaded.
- Check or uncheck items in the Downloaded files list.
If unchecked, the item will not be downloaded.
- Optionally, you can choose to clip the data.
- Using the display's extent—Click the Clip rasters drop-down arrow and choose Clip to data frame extent.
- Using a graphic—Draw a graphic using a tool on the Draw toolbar, such as the Polygon tool , then click the Clip rasters drop-down arrow and choose Clip to selected graphics extent.
- Optionally, modify the Convert rasters parameter.
- Click the Settings button to modify the format of the clipped raster datasets.
- Optionally, you can choose to see the path of the source files in the window.
- Click the Settings button.
- Check Display full file paths and click OK.
- Optionally, you can choose to use the same source folder structure when you download the files.
- Click the Settings button.
- Check Maintain folder structure and click OK.
- Click Download.
As each item is downloading, the status will change from Pending to Downloading to Done.
- When downloading is complete, you can click Add to Map to add the downloaded datasets to ArcMap.
- Click Close to close the dialog box.
