Removing the background area of a raster layer using the Image Analysis window

1. In ArcMap, click Windows on the Main menu and click Image Analysis.
2. Click one or more raster layers in the Image Analysis window.
3. Check Background.

   The background value used by default is 0. This value can be changed in the Layer Properties dialog box, on the Symbology tab.
