20002: Layer uses an EMF picture symbol with image separation

  • Solutions
  • More information

A layer in your map is symbolized with a picture fill symbol based on an EMF image and has a separation specified. ArcMap maps that use EMFs in a picture fill and have separation do not actually separate or leave gaps between the images but, rather, stretch the image. In basemap layers and map services, the separation works correctly but results in slight differences in appearance when compared to the ArcMap display.

Solutions

  • No changes are necessary. Use the map as is. Just beware that the map display has changed slightly.
  • Alternatively, you can change the symbol to a marker fill symbol with a picture marker based on the same EMF. The separation can then be specified more accurately.

More information

In most cases, when a tiled image is required as a fill, using a marker fill symbol with a picture marker can give better control over the size and separation of the tiles than a picture fill symbol.
