Enabling time on your data

After you have added your temporal dataset, its time properties have to be set in order to visualize it through time using the Time Slider in ArcMap, ArcGlobe, or ArcScene.

Time properties on the layer can be enabled by simply checking Enable time on this layer on the Time tab of the Layer properties dialog box.

Time tab for setting time properties on your data

For each time-enabled layer you need to specify how the time values have been stored in the data. Also, you need to specify a time step interval, which represents how often the time values were recorded in your data. You can optionally set a temporal reference on your data. The temporal reference allows you to visualize layers from different time zones at the same time.
