Saving a temporal map

Using the time slider, you can visualize your time-enabled datasets over time interactively. Also, you can create a temporal map, which allows you to visualize your time-enabled datasets at a particular time. You can save the temporal map by simply saving the ArcGIS document (ArcMap, ArcGlobe, ArcScene). The next time you open the map document, the map will display data based on the time on the time slider.

The time slider properties are also saved with the map. So, when a saved map with time-enabled data is reopened, the Time Slider window shows up automatically and can be used to replay the time visualization. Also, you can print or export temporal maps.

Note:

In ArcMap, if you have multiple data frames or maps containing time-enabled data, the time properties of all these data frames are stored with the ArcMap document.

  1. Open the Time Slider window by clicking the Time Slider button Time Slider on the Tools toolbar.
  2. Move the Time Slider Control to the time at which you want to visualize your data.
  3. Optionally, modify the time slider properties.
  4. Click the Save Save button on the Standard toolbar.

A temporal map, which displays data at the specified time, is stored.
