Export a query layer

To move the data from a query layer into another database or enterprise geodatabase, you can export the query layer to a table or feature class. Define spatial properties for the query layer—such as coordinates, geometry type, and spatial reference—before exporting it to a feature class. The spatial properties you set for the query layer will be used in the feature class.

  1. In ArcMap, right-click the query layer in the table of contents and click Data > Export Data (to export a spatial query layer to a feature class) or Data > Export (to export a nonspatial query layer to a table).
  2. If you are exporting a spatial query layer, select which features to export.
    • To export all features in the query layer, choose All features from the Export drop-down menu.
    • To export only those features visible in the current map extent, choose All features In View Extent from the Export drop-down menu.
  3. If you are exporting a spatial query layer, specify the coordinate system to use for the new feature class by clicking one of the following radio buttons:
    • this layer's source data—The new feature class will have the same coordinate system you defined for the query layer.
    • the data frame—The new feature class will have the coordinate system you set for the map.
    • the feature dataset you export the data into—This option is only active if the location you specify for the Output feature class is a geodatabase feature dataset. Always use this option when exporting to a feature dataset.
  4. In the Output feature class or Output table text box, browse to the location where you want to create the feature class or table and enter an appropriate name.

    License:

To export to an enterprise geodatabase or a database, you must use an ArcGIS Desktop Standard or Advanced license.

  5. Click OK.
