An overview of the S-57 Tools toolset

The S-57 Tools toolset provides tools that allow you to import and export S-57 data as well as create S-57 products and exchange sets.

ToolDescription

Import S-57 To Geodatabase

Imports an S-57 file into a maritime geodatabase. Sources that can be imported include Electronic Navigational Chart (ENC), Additional Military layers (AML), and Inland Electronic Navigational Chart (IENC).

Export Geodatabase To S-57

Exports hydrographic data from a maritime geodatabase to an S-57 file.

Create S-57 Product

Creates an AML, IENC, or ENC chart product in the ArcGIS Maritime product library using an S-57 cell descriptive record and geometry objects.

Create S-57 Exchange Set

Allows a mariner to view the Electronic Navigational Chart (ENC) datasets in an Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) for shipboard navigation. An exchange set is a package of files that contains one catalog file and at least one S-57 dataset file (New Edition [EN] and Revised Edition [ER]). Once you have exported and published your S-57 data, you need to package the S-57 dataset files into a valid S-57 exchange set.
