Exporting, publishing, and packaging your AML product

You can export, publish, and package your S-57 products by performing the following steps:

注：

If you are using a relational database management system (RDBMS) for your Nautical Information System (NIS), all official exports are pulled from the Default version of the NIS database. Therefore, ensure that all necessary edits have been reconciled and posted to default before exporting to S-57.

Exporting to S-57

This can be accomplished using the Export Geodatabase To S-57 tool. This tool builds an S-57 file directly from the NIS database using the extraction queries and the area of interest polygon for the product contained in the product library to filter the necessary features. The following processes execute automatically:

• Extract data
• Clip data
• Group soundings
• Generate FE Name
• Generate or update primitives
• Calculate SCAMIN

注：

If you need to modify cell metadata during export, you must use the Export Nautical Product wizard to export S-57 to geodatabase.

1. 启动 ArcMap。
2. If necessary, open the Catalog window by clicking Windows > Catalog on the main menu.
3. Open the Export Geodatabase to S-57 tool from Toolboxes > System Toolboxes > Nautical Tools > S-57 Tools.
4. Browse to the Product Library containing the product you want to export using the PL Workspace parameter.
5. If the Product Library is an RDBMS, choose the schema owner from the PL Owner drop-down list.
6. Choose the product to export from the Product drop-down list.
7. Choose the type of export you want from the Export Type drop-down list.

   Descriptions from the S-57 Appendix B Product Specifications IHO document.

   • New Edition—A new edition of a dataset, including new information that has not been previously distributed by updates.
   • Update—Changes some information in a dataset.
   • Reissue—A reissue of a dataset, including all the updates applied to the original dataset up to the date of the reissue. A reissue does not contain any new information that has not been previously issued by updates.
   • New Dataset—A new dataset where no ENC data has previously been produced for this area and for the same navigational purpose.
   • Cancel—In order to delete a dataset, an update cell file is created, containing only the Data Set General Information record with the Data Set Identifier (DSID) field. The Edition Number (EDTN) subfield must be set to 0.
8. Using the Output Location parameter, browse to the location where you want to write the S-57 Export.
9. If you want to export the data from a database other than the NIS the product is associated with, browse to the database from the Source Geodatabase parameter.

   You can browse to the location of the export and open the export package. The package is also stored in the product library at the product level. You can view the export package through the File Manager.

Publishing the export version

Once your S-57 dataset file has been cleared through a third-party validation package, you need to publish the exported record to incrementally export S-57 dataset files. You can publish and unpublish export versions that reference the data you exported to an S-57 dataset file.

1. 启动 ArcMap。
2. If necessary, open the Product Library window by clicking Customize > Production > Product Library on the main menu.

   A tree view of the product library appears.

   

3. Expand Product Library and Products.
4. Browse to the product you want to publish.
5. Right-click the product and click Publish or View Metadata.

   The Publish or View Metadata dialog box appears. It lists the metadata values for each published new edition or update, and exports.

6. Right-click the edition or update record you recently exported and click Publish.
7. Click OK on the message box that informs you the new edition or update number that was published.
8. 单击关闭。

Creating an exchange set

Once you have exported and published your S-57 data, you need to package the S-57 dataset files into a valid S-57 Exchange Set. This allows you to view the Electronic Navigational Chart (ENC) datasets in an ECDIS for shipboard navigation. You can create a valid S-57 Exchange Set with the Create S-57 Exchange Set tool.

1. 启动 ArcMap。
2. If necessary, click Windows > Catalog.
3. Click Toolboxes > System Toolboxes > Nautical Tools > S-57 Tools.
4. Click on the Create S-57 Exchange Set geoprocessing tool.
5. Click Browse next to the Input Directory parameter and choose the folder containing the S-57 files, associated text, and images.

   注：

   There may be many subdirectories under the main folder. The tool will find the appropriate updates and files and correctly place them in the Exchange Set format.

6. Choose the layout format from the Layout Format drop-down list.
7. Choose a location to write the Exchange Set to using the Output Directory parameter.

   The ENC_ROOT folder will be created at this location.

8. 单击确定。
