The Eraser tool removes all connected pieces of ink that you touch with your pen, including ink created with the Pen and Highlighter tools. You can choose a different eraser width from the Eraser tool palette. If you choose Small, Medium, or Large, the size of the eraser changes. To erase ink using one of these widths, drag the eraser across the ink you want to erase. If you tap the Stroke Erase tool, you can remove connected strokes of ink by brushing the eraser across the ink stroke you want to erase.
If your pen has a digital eraser on its top, you can use it with the Pen or Highlighter tool instead of the Eraser tool.
The following illustrates the Eraser tool and the tool palette of styles:
The Ink Settings dialog box has some options that affect how you work with the Eraser tool. These are the settings for whether to only erase active ink and whether your ink is committed manually or automatically. When the Only erase active ink sketch option is checked, the Eraser tool will only work on ink that has not yet been committed. If your ink is committed manually, that box will be checked and you will only be able to erase active ink.
However, if your ink sketches are automatically finished as graphics and the Only erase active ink sketch option is not checked, the Eraser tool will work on any ink in your map, even if it has been committed as graphics.
