Redefining a layer category can be set two ways. You can either changing the role of an existing layer in the table of content, or you can add a new layer directly into the appropriate category.
If you already know you want to add data as an elevation source in ArcGlobe, add it directly to the elevation layer category by simply right-clicking Globe layers, pointing to Add Data, then clicking Add Elevation Data. Browse to your data and it will appear in the Elevation layers list in the table of contents.
If you want to update the role of an existing layer, do the following:
- Right-click the layer you want to reclassify in the table of contents.
- Point to Redefine layer, then click Redefine Layer as Elevation.
This option is only available for single band rasters, triangulated irregular networks (TINs), and terrain datasets.
