Privileges for using ArcGIS with Dameng

Privileges determine what a user is authorized to do with the data and the database. Assign privileges based on the type of work the person does within the organization.

Users connecting to Dameng from ArcGIS require system access and access to specific user data. As a Dameng administrator, you create groups based on what users need to do in the database, grant privileges to the groups, and add the appropriate database users to each group.

The following table lists three groups of users and the minimum privileges they require to query, edit, or create data from ArcGIS.

Data viewer	CREATE SESSION	This privilege allows users to connect to the database.
	SELECT on sysgeo.geometry_columns SELECT on sysgeo.spatial_ref_sys	Data viewers need access to these system tables to see spatial data.
	SELECT on other users' tables	Data viewers need access to specific tables you want them to see and query.
Data editor* Data editors require the same privileges as data viewers, plus these additional privileges.	INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE on other users' tables	Grant the editing operations you want editors to perform on specific tables.
Data creator Data creators require the same privileges as data viewers, plus these additional privileges.	CREATE TABLE DROP TABLE CREATE SEQUENCE CREATE PROCEDURE CREATE VIEW INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE on sysgeo.geometry_columns and sysgeo.spatial_ref_sys	These privileges allow data creators to create tables and feature classes in the database and populate ObjectID fields.

*To edit data from ArcGIS, publish the data as a feature service that has editing capabilities enabled.
