Viewing an enclosed file

You can view an enclosed file if its file extension is registered with the operating system and the operating system knows what program to use to open the file. An enclosure can't be viewed until it has been saved within the metadata.

  1. In ArcCatalog, click the ArcGIS item whose metadata contains the enclosed file you want to see.
  2. Click the Metadata Properties button Metadata Properties on the Metadata toolbar.

The Metadata Properties dialog box opens.

  3. Double-click the enclosure you want to see.

The file opens in the appropriate application.

  4. Exit the application when you are finished viewing the file.
  5. Click Cancel.
