Radar Calibration function

Overview

The Radar Calibration function is used to calibrate RADARSAT-2 imagery in a mosaic dataset or as a raster product. Calibration is performed on radar imagery so that the pixel values are a true representation of the radar backscatter.

Notes

Radar calibration is not available for RADARSAT-2 SSG and SPG products.

The radar calibration depends on the following lookup table files that are normally shipped with the product:

  • lutBeta.xml
  • lutGamma.xml
  • lutSigma.xml

Parameters

ParameterDescription

Input Raster

The input raster.

Calibration Type

The type of calibration to be performed.

  • Beta-nought—The function returns the radar reflectivity per unit area in slant range. This is the default calibration type.
  • Sigma-nought—The function returns the radar reflectivity per unit area in ground range. Results are 32-bit floating-point values commonly in the range of 0.0 to 1.0. No data clipping is performed if this option is selected.
  • Gamma—The function returns the radar reflectivity per unit area in the plane perpendicular to the direction of measurement.
  • None
