Editing an existing collection

From the Manage Collections dialog box, you can edit an existing collection. When you choose to edit an existing collection, the Collection Name and metadata fields become editable. Any collection within the active Bathymetry Information System (BIS) geodatabase can be edited.

Note:

The following steps use the default metadata fields that are included with the Bathymetry Solution. If you have configured your own metadata fields, the user experience for these steps will be different.

  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. Click Customize > Toolbars > Bathymetry on the main menu to activate the Bathymetry toolbar if necessary.
  3. Click the Manage Collections button Manage Collections on the Bathymetry toolbar.

The Manage Collections dialog box appears.

  4. Choose the Edit collection option.
  5. Click the Select collection drop-down arrow and choose the collection you want to edit.

The View collection's data button becomes active. Viewing collection data can help you verify that you are editing the correct collection.

  6. Optionally click View collection's data.

    The Dataset Preview window appears.

    Note:

From the Dataset Preview window, you can view any data associated with the collection in list format or as a two-dimensional preview. You can also view collection, internal, or extended metadata.

  7. Click Close on the Dataset Preview window.

You are returned to the Manage Collections dialog box.

  8. Click the Value cell next to each metadata field you want to modify and type a new value.
  9. Click OK on the Manage Collections dialog box to save the updated collection information in the BIS geodatabase.

A message box appears saying Collection saved successfully.
