Enabling feature-level metadata in the Feature Manager

Available with Production Mapping license.

You can enable and disable the use of feature-level metadata. To ensure that the feature-level metadata attributes are being populated during the edit session, you need to enable the feature-level metadata by configuring metadata fields in the product library.

  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. Load data in the map if necessary.
  3. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > Production Editing.
  4. Define the product library workspace.
  5. Ensure the following have been completed:
    1. A data model has been created.
    2. A data model version has been created using the schema that contains the feature-level metadata.
    3. Field configurations have been created for the schema.
  6. Note:

The Product Library window can be opened by clicking Customize > Production > Product Library.

  7. Click the Production Start Editing button Production Start Editing on the Production Editing toolbar.

    Note:

The Manage Features and Create Attributes, Update Attributes, or Metadata Attributes windows automatically appear when you start an edit session using the Production Start Editing tool.

    Tip:

If the Create Attributes, Update Attributes, or Metadata Attributes window does not appear when you start an edit session, click the Show/Hide Attributes button Show/Hide Attributes on the Manage Features window.

  8. Click the Metadata tab on the Manage Features window.
  9. Right-click the Metadata tab and click Use FCT Metadata.
