Adding a unit conversion rule

Maritime Charting allows you to define unit conversion rules that the system will honor during production. The unit conversion rule tool is accessible through ArcCatalog.

  1. Start ArcCatalog.
  2. Add the Unit Conversions Definition tool to a toolbar by completing the following steps:
    1. On the main menu, click Customize > Customize Mode.

      The Customize dialog box appears.

    2. Click the Commands tab.
    3. Choose Nautical in the Categories list.
    4. Drag the Unit Conversions Definition button Unit Conversions Definition from the Commands list to a toolbar.
    5. Click Close.
  3. Click the Unit Conversions Definition button Unit Conversions Definition.

    The Unit Conversions Definition dialog box appears.

  4. Click Add Conversion.

    A row is added to the table.

  5. Type a name for the unit conversion rule in the Name column.
  6. Type a multiplication factor in the Factor column.
  7. Choose the units to convert from in the FromUnits column.
  8. Choose the target units to convert to in the ToUnits column.
  9. Click OK.
