Setting the default location of the disk cache

Available with 3D Analyst license.

ArcGlobe uses disk caching to improve the interactive performance of the 3D view and you can set the file location where these caches are created and maintained.

  1. Click the Customize menu and click ArcGlobe Options.
  2. Click the Display Cache tab.
  3. Type the new default location in the Cache path text box.
  4. ArcGlobe will automatically add a \GlobeCache extension to the file location.
  5. Click OK.
  6. All new layers added to ArcGlobe will have their disk caches stored in this directory.
Tip:
  • Rather than typing the cache location, you can navigate to the new cache folder by clicking the Open Folder button next to the Cache path text box.
  • Existing cache data will not move when the default location is changed. Also, if you make simple changes to the layer, such as a symbology change, the cache will regenerate in its original location. However, if you refresh the layer, thereby generating a new layer identifier, its cache will be located in the new default location.
