Note:

ArcGIS Desktop is in mature support and will be retired March 1, 2026. There are no plans for future releases of ArcGIS Desktop, and it is recommended that you migrate to ArcGIS Pro. See Migrate from ArcMap to ArcGIS Pro for more information.

Developer Solutions (SDK) requirements

ArcObjects SDK for the Java Platform	Developer IDE plug-ins—which offer an enhanced developer experience through templates, code snippets, and project wizards—are provided with ArcObjects SDK for the Java Platform and are supported in the IDEs listed below. Note: Visual beans users must manually install Visual Editor. Eclipse Photon (4.8) IDE for Java Developers Eclipse Photon (4.8) IDE for Java EE Developers Eclipse Oxygen (4.7) IDE for Java Developers Eclipse Oxygen (4.7) IDE for Java EE Developers	ArcGIS Desktop or ArcGIS Server is required to develop with ArcObjects SDK Java. ArcObjects SDK for the Java platform on Linux is only supported with ArcGIS Server Linux. Java Development Kit (JDK) version 8 Update 302 or later versions of JDK 8 is supported when building SOEs and SOIs. Building SOEs or SOIs with Java 9 or higher is not supported.
