ArcGIS 10.8.2 is the current release of ArcGIS Desktop and will enter Mature Support in March 2024. There are no plans to release ArcGIS Desktop 10.9, and we recommend migrating to ArcGIS Pro. See Migrate from ArcMap to ArcGIS Pro for more information.

Developer IDE plug-ins—which offer an enhanced developer experience through templates, code snippets, and project wizards—are provided with ArcObjects SDK for the Java Platform and are supported in the IDEs listed below.

Visual beans users must manually install Visual Editor.

ArcGIS Desktop or ArcGIS Server is required to develop with ArcObjects SDK Java.

ArcObjects SDK for the Java platform on Linux is only supported with ArcGIS Server Linux.

Java Development Kit (JDK) version 8 Update 302 or later versions of JDK 8 is supported when building SOEs and SOIs. Building SOEs or SOIs with Java 9 or higher is not supported.
